Chef Noguier oversess Café des Architectes and all of the food and beverage operations at the Sofitel. Café des Architectes has earned 3 stars form Chicago Magazine, 3 stars from the Chicago Tribune, 3 stars from the Chicago Sun-Times, 19/20 from NorthShore Magazine and 5 stars from TimeOut Chicago. Join us for a night of fun and music at Underground Wonder Bar (UWB) at 10 E. Walton (Please go to http://www.undergrou ndwonderbar.com/ for more details). This very unusual and eclectic venue is the creation of pianist, singer, songwriter and band leader Lonie Walker (Please go to http://www.loniewalk er.com/ for more details) and offers a unique mix of jazz, R&B and Reggae music. UWB is conveniently located near the cross streets of State and Walton. Though parking is very tough, you can easily access UWB via the CTA. Three options including: 1) the CTA Red Line Train and exit at Chicago Avenue stop and walk north on State Street to Walton (about 3 blocks) 2) the CTA #36 bus to stop closest to Walton (about 1 block) and 3) CTA #151 or #146 or #145 bus to Michigan Avenue stop closest to Walton and walk west on Walton (about 3 blocks). UWB has provided our group a very special offer. Instead of their normal $8 cover and average drink tab of $8.50, they have offered us a flat rate of $5! This will cover your admission and 1st drink. After your first drink, it will be cash bar. This $5 will be due when you enter the club. You are guaranteed to have a great time at UWB! I look forward to seeing you all there. Please feel free to bring your friends.

Friday, September 11th marks the beginning of the art gallery season in Chicago. On this day there will be a plethora of galleries eager to show their art and entice you with wine and cheese. We will meet as a group at Carl Hammer's gallery, which is located at 740 N. Wells, Chicago, Illinois 60654. His phone number is 312-266-8512. His specialty is American and international contemporary artists. On this date he will be celebrating his 30TH anniversary! His web site is http://www.hammergal lery.com/ Parking is very, very tough especially during the opening of art gallery season. Therefore, I recommend one of several CTA routes: 1) Take the Brown Line train to Chicago Avenue and walk over (about 2 blocks) 2) Take the #66 Chicago Avenue bus to Wells and walk over (about 2 blocks) 3) Take the Red Line train to Chicago and State and walk over (about 4 blocks) or 4) Take any number of buses to Michigan Avenue and Chicago and walk west (about 6 blocks). We will met at Carl Hammer's gallery at 6 p.m. and leave at 6:20 p.m. sharp to check out the rest of the galleries. I count 51 galleries with openings in the latest addition of Chicago Gallery News. Therefore, this should be a very fun and stimulating event. Hope to see you all there.

Opaa! It's time again for the annual Taste of Greece. Everyone is invited to celebrate all things Greek. Halsted Street will be bursting with food, music and fun from Monroe to Van Buren. Please go to http://www.greektown chicago.org/ for more details. We will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the entrance of Costa's Restaurant located at the northwest corner of Van Buren and Halsted or 340 S. Halsted (in case you get lost their phone number is 312-263-9700), which is near the corner of Van Buren and Halsted. We will wait until 7:50 p.m. and then leave to enjoy the festival. I do not recommend driving since parking will be really tough! Instead, I recommend one of three routes: 1) the CTA Blue Line train to UIC/Halsted stop (and walk one block north on Halsted) or 2) the # 126 Jackson Bus to Halsted Street exit (and you will right there) or 3) #8 Halsted bus to Van Buren (or as far as you can go close due to the fest). The Taste of Greece is an adventure that offers the sights, sounds and taste that is all Greece. Stroll Halsted Street in Greektown and sample the fine Greek delicacies that Chicagoans have grown to love. If you haven't tried all the famous restaurants on Halsted, this is a great time to sample and taste favorites and specialties that take you throughout Greece and Cyprus. Besides, the gastronomic adventure, festivities include two live music stages, featuring the music of the acclaimed Hellas 2000 and Hellenic Five Greek bands. Join the fun and learn the sirtaki, tsamiko, kalamatiano and other Greek dances. Come and see the beautiful costumes of both mainland and the islands ofGreece as three of Illinois favorite Greek dance troupes will perform. Don't miss your turn in the circle dance in the evening. Other Entertainment includes Belly Dancers, Greek Acrobats, The Jesse White Tumblers and plenty of Children's games, face painting and prizes each afternoon. From Gyros and Lamb chops to Shish-ka-bobs and grilled octopus; this year's Taste will have it all. Come hungry as there is something for everyone. Patrons are advised to leave room for the baklava! And when you are done eating, stroll down Halsted for shopping like the Plaka District in Athena's. Here you can find terrific values on olive oil, jewelry, art, accessories, religious items, and much more. It's like going to Greece!
